From Heartbreak to Hope: Why I Founded Rebound Canine

Personalized, in-home rehabilitation for dogs who deserve their second wind.

MY JOURNEY BEGAN WITH MY OWN DOG, HAKA.

At just five years old, Haka was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and arthritis. A devastating blow to an active young dog. He underwent a total hip replacement and faced 12 weeks of strict confinement in our small apartment. I watched helplessly as he lost muscle mass and strength. But the challenges didn't stop there. Once he healed, he tore the cranial cruciate ligament in the same leg. I knew canine rehab existed by this point, so I referred myself to a local clinic for his aftercare. What I saw changed everything for me. I saw the potential of rehabilitation to transform a dog's life. But I also saw something else: the waiting rooms were filled with stressed, nervous dogs and anxious owners. I realized that for a dog recovering from trauma, the clinical commute itself was adding to the struggle. I decided then and there: recovery shouldn't happen in a sterile clinic. It should happen where they feel safe - home.

CERTIFIED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.

You wouldn't trust just anyone to perform surgery on your child; you shouldn't trust just anyone with your dog's rehabilitation either. As a CCRT (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist), I have completed the most rigorous post-graduate certification available in our field. Similar to the credentials held by licensed veterinarians and physical therapists, my training includes: Advanced Mobility Treatments: Restoring range of motion safely. Scientific Pain Management: Reducing reliance on medication without compromising comfort. Physical Conditioning: Building true functional strength. This training, validated by the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI) through hands-on labs and clinical internships, ensures that every exercise, laser pass, and massage is grounded in science, not guesswork.

WHY YOU WON'T FIND AN UNDERWATER TREADMILL HERE

You might notice we don't offer underwater treadmills. This wasn't an oversight; it was a deliberate choice to prioritize your dog's mental and physical comfort. While hydrotherapy has its place in large, specialized clinical centers, we found that for many recovering dogs, especially those anxious about travel or unfamiliar environments, the stress of a wet, noisy clinic often outweighs the benefits. Plus, the commute itself can be exhausting for a stiff senior dog. Instead, we bring the therapy to where your dog feels safest: your home. Our in-home model allows us to: Work on Functional Movement: We practice the exact exercises your dog needs to navigate your stairs, sofa, and front door, not a treadmill belt. Reduce Stress: No waiting rooms, no other barking dogs, no car sickness. Customize the Environment: We use therapeutic exercise, laser, and manual techniques that are just as effective as hydro for building strength and range of motion, but without the logistical hurdles. For most cases of arthritis, post-op recovery, and mobility decline, targeted terrestrial (land-based) rehabilitation provides superior results because it mimics real-life movement patterns. We believe the best rehab happens when your dog is relaxed, engaged, and at home.

"JUST OLD AGE" IS NOT THE ANSWER.

I've seen it time and again: dogs with osteoarthritis dismissed as "slowing down," owners told to limit activity and rely solely on pain medication. It doesn't have to be this way. I don't just treat symptoms; I build a roadmap. A personalized plan that increases mobility, reduces stiffness, and restores the active lifestyle you and your dog share. Whether it's navigating the hardwood stairs in your townhouse or enjoying morning walks without hesitation,

VIBRANT STEPS. ACTIVE LONGEVITY

I believe every dog deserves to be active until their last day — and be a strong part of their family's life.
I work with you to guide your dog through our proprietary framework:

Whether you're managing a senior like Haka or protecting the joints of a younger dog, my approach is rooted in this advanced expertise, empathy, and a deep love for the human-canine bond.

A PARTNER IN YOUR COMMUNITY

I moved to Maryland several years ago and fell in love with this area. On my days off, you'll find me hiking the trails at Bacon Ridge Nature Preserve or Patapsco State Park with my dogs, or hunting for another dog-friendly winery along the Annapolis corridor. While I specialize in non-pharmaceutical rehabilitation, I believe in a team approach. I work hand-in-hand with your regular veterinarian, ensuring continuity of care. For more complex cases requiring treatments like joint injections or shockwave therapy, I collaborate with trusted local referral clinics.

This collaborative network means your dog receives comprehensive care without unnecessary stress or disjointed communication.
